Generational Mindsets

Baby Boomers, predominantly, believe that we are all singular individuals, unique ‘snowflakes’ despite the fact that we are part of a larger whole, 340 million people in America, 8 billion on the planet.

So the truth lies somewhere else. Can 340 million people actually be completely unique or is the fact that we share 98% of our exact DNA pattern with every other one of these humans, these pack animals, mean we share a lot of our behavioral patterns and need to make decisions based on the whole, based on the ‘pack’?

This, to me, explains why there’s such a divide in America right now. Boomers believe they can legislate for the individual and ignore the similarities of the pack animal needs while everyone else looks to collective action such as Universal Healthcare, broader economic models and things that help the whole.

Time to stop looking at the self and start looking at the whole.

Hating the government

Unpopular as this might be, we hate the government because it is a direct reflection of the majority of people in our country. We hate what we are and what we were. For us on reddit and the internet in general, this is a hard pill to swallow.

We, as a whole, are a war mongering bunch. We love sentimental platitudes of patriotism that stroke our distorted egos. We love law and order, wars-on-things and capital punishment.

We, until recently, love boot strap pulling tough guy cowboys and berating the unfortunate that happen to have been born poor, without structure and end up in crime – we want to lock everyone up and throw away the key.

We love throwing our weight around the world and pissing money away to make sense of our military industrial complex. We hate admitting when we’re wrong and will invade a country based on lies to meet vendettas and cover our asses. We love looking down our nose at older, more secure countries like France and Germany that have been through it before, have learned a sense of maturity and have insight to offer. We don’t need them, we know everything.

We take up sides like we’re players in a football game. Rah rah-ing and shaking our pom poms oblivious to the distortions each side is smacking us with and ignoring the truth as long as we win.

We are children of recent history, reveling in our ignorance and spinning around on our egos. We look up to fakes like Reagan and paint our history as some paragon of virtue while ignoring the horrors we have unleashed and the mistakes we make continually, repeatedly like parent-less children.

At some point we will have have to take a long look at our sick and bloated societal egos and relate that to our own existence. Many other societies do things the right way, care about their fellow citizens and aren’t nearly as susceptible to flagrant propaganda by the likes of corporations that fleece us dry at every step.

So when we hate the government, we are hating a direct representative of who we are, what we have allowed from behind the comfort of our cushy living rooms and we, the majority, have some serious growing up to do.

Taking responsibility is the hardest part.

Carmen Trutanich (LA district Attorney) and Steve Cooley (City Attorney) have vowed to ignore the law and shut down legal Medical Marijuana shops

LA District Attorney Steve Cooley: http://da.co.la.ca.us/

And city attorney Carmen Trutanich: http://atty.lacity.org/OUR_OFFICE/Meet_City_Attorney/index.htm

Are telling the city of Los Angeles that they are gonna get tough on crime and grabbing headlines by going after low hanging fruit (easy pickings) Medical Marijuana (MMJ) users in LA. Even though the state has twice made laws okaying MMJ and even though the courts have upheld these laws, these two newly elected officials have decided that the laws don’t apply to them and their jurisdiction. More bullshit from a twisted baby boomer generation that would sell their mother for a headline.

And what’s more they are fucking lazy. Do some police work and let people smoke their weed. For Christ sakes, the thing in the video about the backlog of rape cases makes me sick. Watch:

Obama vs the GOP

This is happening all over America. People are waking up to the lies, the deceit and empty promises of the GOP and looking to the Democrats to actually do some quality governing for a change.

From Reddit

You know, I use to be a republican. Throughout college and during my first year at law school I was a republican. I spoke using the same rhetoric. I would attack the poor of our nation by labeling them as lazy, I would constantly attack welfare and use that to illustrate what the democratic party was like. I did all of these things and then I began to educate myself, I read, I kept up with the news. I went beyond the nice little package rhetoric and began looking at results.

This is when I began to realize that much of the republican doctrine, as it is now, its based on loose facts and irrational logic. It is constantly about creating these supposed hypotheticals of what is going to happen if democrats get in charge. It is about constantly blaming others and judging others. It is about simplifying extremely complicated ideas into simple minded sound bites. As if by repeating it over and over it will become more truthful. It is about sticking to an ideology no matter what facts present themselves and if facts do present themselves then its about simply offering a justification or spinning it.

Now, its not to say that Democrats have been that much better, however, I do believe that their platform is more conducive to serving society. And I truly believe that there is something special in Barack Obama. He is a politician but I think he brings with him a progressive vision and management style and I do believe that his intellectualism accompanied by his passion for America will serve us all greatly.

I woke up to what amounts to a massive defrauding of the American people by a cabal of power brokers starring the current Republican players (Rove, Bush, Cheney, McCain, etc) and funded by corporate interests and old old money. They have fleeced this country, the USA of trillions of dollars through the Federal Reserve (free loans of tax payer dollars, creating inflation, devaluing dollar), the massive war machine and a penchant for creating ‘shell corporations’ out of our tax payer financed government agencies (FEMA, Homeland Security, all regulatory departments).

Obama won’t completely change that. But he will be a wonderful start.

McCain/Palin is a desperate attempt to hold onto power and continue the current historic fleecing of the United States of America.
